Too expensive for what I...

Liked: Location was good, parking on the street was easy to find, hot water for showers
Disliked: The price for what I paid for, far too expensive for what it’s worth. The house is old, some parts dirty. Window above my bed (in shared room) had lots of cobwebs on it and there were no black out curtains.

I had a great stay,...

Liked: a cosy, relaxed place with heaps of character and a lovely garden and good price. Great location for walks, by the river, or to the centre of new zealand and a few lovely parks and gardens nearby, while also close to the centre with cafes/restaurants/shops an easy walk. Nelson is a fantastic place 😊The dorm room is bright and spacious, with games and puzzles available. The total capacity of the hostel is around 10 guests, so its quiet and homely. The kitchen is pretty retro but functions well and doesn't smell! (if you hostel a lot you know what I mean), and there's a great radio for your listening pleasure.
Disliked: There's no formal check in process, which often confuses people when they first arrive, no need to ring the doorbell at the front! But once you find your way in, through the kitchen is the hallway with all the rooms numbered  so its not too hard to find where you're going and get settled in. Rob will come down and meet you at some point, and he's lovely  :) <3 The only common areas are the kitchen and garden, which is no problem most of the time, but if the place was full and the weather was cold there wouldn't be much social chilling space

Bad

Disliked: I don’t usually write bad reviews, but this property was dirty and run down, where was no space in the fridge and kitchen to do anything and the room was musty and dirty. There was no wifi working, which I can understand might be a connection issue. But overall I did not feel comfortable as a solo female traveller, staying at this property for one night.

Very good

Liked: I booked a bed in the mixed dorm room and unfortunately got the last and only top bunk bed, which was too difficult for me. Rob the owner was kind enough to give me a good discount to change to the twin room. Much appreciated.
