Passable

Liked: Stayed in the courtyard rooms and they were very tired looking and in need of a refurb.They were very small with a standard sized double but the bedside tables were positioned for a king-size which looked odd and made it difficult to reach them comfortably from the bed! The carpet was like bad office carpet and gave me the ick standing on it without shoes.The bathroom grout sealant had seen better days and the sink needed a good scrub to remove grime around the plughole. The shower was powerful and the water hot but unfortunately it had a shower curtain which was blown into you by the air current from the extractor fan so you end up battling with it to prevent it sticking to you! Although the curtain looked clean the idea of the curtain sticking to other people's wet bodies was less than appealing!With a refresh this hotel could be great as it's only 5 mins from central Durham and I actually liked being able to park right outside my room!The areas I saw in the main hotel ( reception and bar area) were much nicer. Unfortunately unless it was done up I wouldn't be tempted to stay here again.

Awful

Liked: Room was basic- and very cold with no heating controls anywhere. Additionally the tv remote did not work. And in the morning woke by a running car filling the room with exhaust fumes. This is not a good hotel. I won’t be staying again.

Very good

Liked: It is a nice place to stay. Clean, convenient location,the rastaurant is good.It is my second staying. What disappointed me this time was that the weather was cold, but the heating system was off. Another thing, when I went in the morning to the restaurant for breakfast, the duty guy did offer me only cornflakes and milk. When I asked for something else more solid like eggs, he very reluctantly showed me only one side of the menu, and I had to choose from three options. Before leaving, I found that on the other side of the menu, there were more offers for breakfast. It was very disappointing.

Passable but wouldn’t stay again

Liked: Staff friendly, breakfast nice with plenty of choice, plenty of parking, good location.
Disliked: Allocated room was tired and dated, in need of an upgrade, and not what was expected given the photos on booking.com. Second morning was very cold, radiator not working. Gap under door letting in draft, road noise loud and being woken up twice at 3:30am by loud slamming doors in the adjacent room. Not ideal.
