Liked: Very comfortable room within walking distance of Brown's Island and other local restaurants, which is awesome when you don't want to drive. The hotel was very nice and comfortable and the breakfast was good. I would highly recommend staying there to anyone and will stay there again myself in the near future.

Very disappointed in this hotel. I paid $143 for a Suite with a king sized bed and a whirlpool tub. Also had to pay an additional $10 parking fee because it is not included in the hotel fare. We arrived to find some sort of fan set up to probably help get rid of the odor in the room. The odor was not horrendous, but it was all in our clothes. The heat would blow hot air then cold air, off and on all night. I used ConcertHotels.com to book this hotel as I was attending the Pixies show at the National. Obviously, we were not in the room very much until late in the night after the show; however, when we came back for the night, there was a note under the door explaining that the entire hotel had NO WATER due to a pipe that had broken outside of the hotel. The note also explained they would not be able to estimate exactly when we might have water again. So, not only did we definitely need to shower after dancing and getting beer spilled all over us, but we NEVER received an update when the water would be back on. Next morning, still no water. Still unable to take a shower. Still unable to flush the toilet. The crew outside kept us awake most of the night while trying to repair the water main. Also, although the staff was polite, when I called that night to ask for walking directions back to the hotel, the desk person provided us with incorrect directions. We ended up walking eleven blocks in the wrong direction during the freezing temperatures. We called back she attempted to help get us in the right direction but was unable to determine basic directions such as east, west, north, south, etc. Also, a cab was 45 minutes away so that was not an option. Experience was overall very upsetting and frustrating. Upon leaving the next morning, when the desk clerk asked how our stay was, we only relayed a bit of our frustration regarding the water situation. She advised she would reimburse my credit card for the $10 parking fee. I do not believe giving me $10 back begins to compensate for what we experienced at the Holiday Inn Express and we will not be returning.
Disliked: Foul odor in the room; heater was blowing cold air; water main broke - no water.

Liked: The beds were comfortable, the staff was very friendly and the parking was easy. The breakfast was a nice convenience with decent variety.
Disliked: This was our first visit to Richmond, and we were a little disappointed with the lack of things to do in the immediate area. In hindsight we probably should have chosen a hotel outside of downtown. We expected downtown Richmond to be a little livelier than it was. I was also surprised that housekeeping did not visit our room to change out the towels or make the beds. In most other chain hotels I have seen a sign indicating whether or not housekeeping is an option, stating for example that you have to hang up towels to keep them or leave them on the floor to change them. I did not see such a sign and therefore I didn't realize there would be no housekeeping visit at all. I also had to request an extra set of towels on the night we arrived. We were three people in a room with two queen beds but were only provided two sets of towels upon arrival (even though the reservation we made was for three and not two).

Great experience
Liked: This hotel was a great experience! I wanted to take the bed home with me.. or just never leave LOL the staff are all super sweet, the room was clean the bathroom looks like it had been recently upgraded; very nice. Oh yeah and the breakfast was amazing such a variety of things to eat:-)
Disliked: I can't really think of anything I didn't like.. paying for parking was not great.. $20 a night but it's kind of to be expected in this economy. Parking garage is right underneath the hotel so you just take an elevator to your floor it's really convenient.

Liked: Staff was nice and it was well situatedBathroom was clean but the rest of the room was not adequate.
Disliked: The room was old, dark and dirtyBed was extremely soft Could not open the shades, windows had dead bugs along the sill also had some spider webs and old towels from water leak..the sprinkler above the bed had spider webs around it..Window covers were dirtyAC/ Fan was very noisy.. did not work well and the air flaps were encrusted with dust in the corner .. very disappointed .. I woke up with a bite on the back of my upper thigh..and there was a dead Barbie head stuck in my night stand .. creepy..

Liked: The hotel staff if beyond phenomenal! Everyone is super friendly and helpful.
Disliked: The room was a bit dirty with the bathroom floors sticky upon check in.
