Zero Soundproofing - Night Staff...

Liked: I'm writing this as a highly educated, well travelled woman, currently sitting with my young daughter at Miami International Airport. I was supposed to have been relaxing around a pool, after a good night's sleep... Sadly things were far from how I imagined. The only good thing about the hotel is the shuttle (although the last airport pick up is 9.45pm).
Disliked: No sound proofing whatsoever, either between rooms & the corridor or the noisy highway outside.. Awful threadbare blinds covering a non- glazed window. Air Con & bathroom extractor fan were so noisy. Despite asking for a quiet room on my preferences & double checking at check in this was the case, I was given a room right on the nearest corner to the busy main road. No sleep all night & despite the blurb written in the room the night staff simply did not care. Some people simply should simply not be in the customer service industry & sadly here they give Holiday Inn (a name I have previously stayed with & trusted) a very bad name. My first complaint was not logged & then the response to my second was the police knocking on my door, waking my 9 year old daughter up (the reason why I could not simply switch rooms in the middle of the night) whilst I was in bed with a pillow over my head, desperate for some sleep at 6am & certainly not causing a disturbance. Despite the police agreeing with me that the hotel were simply looking for an escape route to not fulfill their contractual obligations, I obviously had to comply & quietly leave with the hotel refusing to let me speak to management I also did not have the breakfast I paid for but the breakfast area looked quite depressing, so maybe apart from the financial, no loss. An absolute disgrace & such an upsetting end to what was otherwise a lovely holiday.

Disliked: We had to call 5 times for airport pickup and then was 1 1/2 hours before picked up.. only 15 minutes from airport!

The stay was manageable but...

Liked: The property is an ancient one that was remodel
Disliked: There were no hooks on the walls, bathroom etc to hang clothing. The ac was fixed so we can’t do anyadjusting to the temperature
