One night… it was okay.

Disliked: Rooms are not welcoming at all. They were lit dimly and the HVAC was does not function properly. The fluorescent type lighting was awful to the eyes.

A pleasant hotel to stay...

Liked: The free WIFI was good. *The hotel was clean and the room pleasant and so were the staff. Food and drink on sale were varied and good value. Free airport bus appreciated. The swimming pool was very warm. The beds were very comfortable. Bus stop into the centre of town was 5 minutes walk away but a change of route was needed. The microwave and fridge is useful.
Disliked: On arrival, the reception did not have one map or pamphlet. When I asked a question of how to get to the centre of Ottawa, the man told me to look on Google maps! I love Google maps in general but this was not helpful as I wanted to be simply told the answer. When I asked the receptionist, was it possible to pay a bus fare by just swiping my debit card, she said that she had no idea as she'd never been on a bus! Not very helpful. The breakfast was not good overall. Yes the basics were there but the variety was terrible and so much based on carbohydrates. With the hot food, there was never tomatoes or mushrooms and one day, there was baked beans but they were so dry. Often the "hot" food was just about warm as the lids kept getting left off the containers. As soon as I covered the container fully, the member of staff removed the lid and left the spoon letting the air in. One flavour of jam (strawberry) is not good nor any marmalade available.The cut off time of 9.30am serving was a bit extreme. Most hotels let you enter the dining room before the end but the whole section is closed at exactly that time. One lady was in the middle of helping herself to her hot course, when the doors were closed so she wouldn't have been able to get toast, jam, muffins, fruit juice afterwards. The attitude of disposable plates and cutlery is SO not environmentally friendly. We couldn't believe it. The sorting bins were just so unorganised. Nobody had bothered to clearly label the 4 sections so consequently, all the disposables were mixed up in every section and not one member of staff seemed to care. The whole breakfast situation was such a disappointment to the wonderful H. I. meals we get in England. The coffee machine in our room was in such a dark alcove, we couldn't read the instructions printed on it, so we had to get out our torches. Even then, they were not showing how to just boil water. No changing facilities in the pool area was unusual
