My husband and I have stayed in far better hotels and have only been charged £10/15 per night or whole visit for our dog. Would definitely not book a longer stay in the future - in fact, we will not return to Holiday Inn as a matter of principal. Charge cannot be justified even for cleaning of room. Very disappointed.
Liked: Room and breakfast were good. Completely spoiled by above.
Disliked: Only negative was the £25 charge for our dog. We only stayed one night!

Amazing staff, really welcoming

Perfect for a brief visit

I expected better!
Liked: The location and breakfast was great.
Disliked: Firstly, after a long train journey from Liverpool to Edinburgh, I arrived at the hotel. Reception staff were lovely and very helpful. Everything was ok, I used the shower before going around Edinburgh. I was stood showering, I went to turn around and I nearly slipped and if I did it would have caused some damage to my head. I was shook up and had to put a towel inside the shower for me to stand on so I didn’t slip. I was a bit shook up. The bed was awful, every time I turned in the bed with my partner the bed squeeked and I was awake most of the night. When we woke up this morning, our backs were really sore and still are now. I did speak to reception on check out when we was asked, where there any problems with your stay. I explained all of this. His reply was that we should have went to reception during the night to move rooms. I explained that we didn’t know during the night that our backs would be sore when we did wake up.Today on check out I walked through the door to reception. There was a cleaner hoovering the carpet side of the reception area. The power lead was plugged in and was by the door. There were no warnings. I went through the door and nearly tripped over the wire. I had to grab the reception desk so I didn’t hit the floor. Although the cleaner was very apologetic It still gave me a really bad fright. The guy on reception didn’t even mention this and I was really upset about that.Overall this hotel has caused me some stress and took away anything good about the hotel and the staff.It’s ruined my trip because now I’m still in a lot of pain in my back, I’m really tired and because of lack of sleep I am exhausted.

Great location, great staff and...
Liked: Location was excellent.
Disliked: Unfortunately loose manhole cover in Cowgate was making a loud noise every time a car ran over it. Day and night so couldn’t have the window open.
