Liked: helpful receptionist allocated ground floor room as wife n crutches - no lift in hotel !!
Disliked: was warned that some food options in bar might not be available after 9pm.in fact tried to order at 0840 and nothing was available . so much for an "all day menu"Bed rather firm

Avoid unless you like Fawlty...
Liked: breakfast good......thats about it
Disliked: No wi-fi due to several excuses, including the number of hotel guests! so apparently its the guests fault (i know technical faults occur but to blame the guests was a new one on me). Waited nearly 1 hour in a near deserted restaurant for a steak costing £25 (Miller & Carter prices) to be served something that resembled old leather. The room was cold (which is great as its easy to warm up with the air con, right? wrong), The air-con was so loud it sounded like an 18th century steam engine, so the choice was either no sleep in a warm room with a steam engine sound track and the risk of contracting legionnaires disease or periodic sleep in a freezing cold room (5c outside at night). One of these is understandable, but everything together points to a pattern of this place being a poor hotel that only Basil Fawlty would think was a good. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE (the staff were nice, except for blaming the guests for the wi-fi outage).

Great location for the A1,...
Liked: Great staff with a comfy room in a great location for the A1. There was plenty of parking in large grounds and I had a very nice stay.
Disliked: The evening meal took a little while as there was a large party in, the staff did apologise and kept me updated. At breakfast they had run out of bacon and tomatoes. Again not a big issue but when you are travelling and on a tight schedule it is a little unfortunate.
