Kudos to the Holiday Inn...
Liked: The hotel was awesome! My room and the hotel itself was clean. The linen on the bed was fresh and crisp. The front desk staff was friendly, helpful and very accommodating. The ambiance of the hotel was very inviting, pleasant and the staff very professional. I would go back to the hotel in a heartbeat without reservation.
Disliked: The restaurant wasn't open for lunch or dinner. I was informed, it hadn't opened yet and they weren't sure of the date it would open.

Disliked: shower looked like it needed maintenance... new caulking etc. furniture looked worn and dated...dust in the corner of room.

I will never stay at...
Liked: Centrally located to a variety of relevant metro Detroit locations.
Disliked: This is a fairly new property, but it is already looking shabby—super warn carpeting and cart scrapes on all the walls. There’s always garbage in the parking lot. This property now charges a significant sum for a buffet breakfast that is a half step above continental—the coffee is free but it is absolutely appalling; we ended up buying coffee elsewhere every morning. The phone in my room didn’t work for any purposes, not even to call the front desk, and the desk was nearly impossible to reach—a constant “this mailbox is full” message. Desk staff seemed incapable of coping with any edits to reservations like needing to split charges between two credit cards. There are also two hotels in this same area with almost identical names: both are Holiday Inn Detroit North Livonia, but one has Express in the name. When I confused these hotels in my booking (and I know others do this all the time because I heard it happen at the desk during my own check in process) I was refused a refund of a night’s stay by IHG even though I stayed at the same hotel chain and could absolutely not stay at the express location because they don’t take pets. Booking.com was absolutely lovely in advocating for me, but the hotel was awful and unyielding.
