Disappointed
Liked: Fantastic powerful shower
Disliked: I will be honest, as that's the point in reviews. As soon as you arrive you see the hotel, you see the entrance is very shabby and worn down. The reception area inside is nice. The bedroom we had was one of the most expensive, room 406 and was disappointing, that's when we finally reached it, the hotel is only on two floors so doesn't go upwards, it goes around. We went in the lift, into the breakfast restaurant, up three steps, then walked for five minutes to reach our room. Which gets annoying when you keep going back and forth. On the way, the first area of corridors you walk through looks tired, and it smells of damp in the walls. The next area of corridors smelt like damp dogs. The corridors around our room were a bit better. The room was basic, the double bed not the most comfortable. The heating didn't work well, so the room was cold. There were brown marks on the white net curtains. The bathroom had a bath with a great, powerful shower over. The lighting isn't great, and the round mirror you can extend from the wall is only usable. If you're at least 5'6, as it's quite high on the wall. All staff were friendly and always spoke to us whenever we walked past them. The restaurant had great staff. However, the food was awful, especially for the price. My lasagne was cremated and I couldn't eat it. My husband's soup tasted terrible. It was £6 for an alcohol free Koperberg and £5.95 for a pint of Stella for reference. We prepaid for breakfast both days, and it was a nice area to sit, plenty of food, full English, some pastries and fruit, cereals. The breakfast was good. It cost us £265 for two nights, next time we would pay more and stay somewhere else. Location is okay, just a 7 minute drive into Chester, which was a great city with loads of shops and restaurants. It was just a 12 minute drive to Cheshire Oaks, which is great for shopping.

Wouldn’t stay again.
Liked: Great location.
Disliked: The room was unbelievably hot and the radiators could not be turned off until the heating across the building went off. Seven month old baby with us and too unbelievably hot for them, not great. Receptionists did not comply with our complaints about horrifically noisy guests above us. Again unexceptionable with a seven month old, awful experience with our stay.

Wouldn't stay here again.
Liked: Very clean, great bathroom/shower. Staff friendly on check out.
Disliked: Night staff were very rude, they completely ignored us and talked amongst themselves, whilst waiting to check in. I can understand they were sorting something out, but all 3 of them didn't' even acknowledge that we were there. The bed was too firm which led to an uncomfortable night's sleep.

Very enjoyable
Liked: Good location for the bus to the city centre. Staff were friendly and helpful and the gym and swimming pool were an added bonus.
Disliked: Not enough dinning tables as we had booked an evening meal which we had to eat in on low chairs and table.
