Extremely Disappointed – Ongoing Injury...
Liked: I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at Holiday Inn Basingstoke, particularly with the complete lack of accountability and communication from hotel management following a serious injury I sustained during my stay on 15 February 2025.Despite raising a formal complaint both at checkout and by email, and receiving initial acknowledgements, first aid advice to go to A&E, I have not received any meaningful response or resolution, even weeks later from management. Multiple voicemails and emails have gone unanswered.During my stay, I was burned by scalding water due to unclear and unsafe shower controls and slipped while trying to escape the hot water, injuring my ankle. The phone in the room was not connected, so I was unable to call for help. My injuries have required private physiotherapy, and I am still awaiting NHS scans for suspected ligament damage. This experience has impacted my health, my work, and forced me to withdraw from a race I had been training for.The management’s only response so far has been to say that water temperatures were within range—without providing any documentation of the checks I formally requested. There has been no acknowledgement of the physical, emotional, and financial distress caused, and no evidence of steps taken to improve safety for future guests.I am deeply disappointed by the lack of compassion and professionalism shown, by the GM - Mr Sikandar. I have asked repeatedly for a named contact at IHG head office to escalate this to IHG senior management via email to frant desk and via Booking.com, and received no reply.Guests should be able to expect basic safety, functioning room facilities, and a responsible response when things go wrong. Sadly, that was not my experience here.Can I add that this was the 2nd room we were moved to, as the first room we were checked into initially had dirtily linen, was cold, smelling of damp and had a "pop up radiator to use"... and yet the title is a...
