Love the history and old...

Liked: The history, paintings and adornments were lovely.
Disliked: The doors are locked in the evenings with no way for guests to enter unless there happens to be someone at the desk. I’m relatively sure that this is a fire safety violation and it is definitely inconvenient, especially since I went downstairs 4 times and couldn’t find anyone. The ice machine was also broken and the price of the room must have been based on the historic value, not the actual room.

The Historic Anchorage Hotel is...

Liked: The Historic Anchorage Hotel was part of our adventure to explore our 49th state, Alaska. The hotel is conveniently located in downtown Anchorage and everything is within easy walking distance (including the train station). The breakfast was wonderful, the staff VERY accommodating!On the day we were leaving, we had to be up and out at 5am. The staff had positioned a luggage cart just outside our door. We've never had a hotel do that for us before.
Disliked: Not a thing. Loved this historic hotel.

I would stay again given...

Liked: The location was perfect to walk to the train station with our luggage in the morning
Disliked: The hotel is old and needs a refresh; the breakfast was basic with frozen and premade foods

Personal service with an old...

Liked: Wonderful location, right in the centre of town. Staff were so friendly. We left a couple of important items in our room after checking out and the staff went out of their way to help us. During our stay, they were so friendly and helpful, it really made a difference. Compared to our stay at another hotel in the same city, we would choose the Historic Anchorage again as it is personal service with an old world charm. The other hotel was more expensive/higher star rating but very impersonal. Our room was huge and spacious and very clean. Thank you!

Disliked: Rooms are very small. Old fixtures, bathroom, etc. albeit very clean. No AC in our room but we didn’t need it. Street noise.
