I chose this hotel because of an excellent experience with Carlton Country Inn & Suites in Pennsylvania last year. The hotel in San Antonio doesn't come close to the quality, comfort and cleanliness of the Pennsylvania hotel.

Liked: Bed linens appeared to be clean. Coffee in the breakfast area was very good.
Disliked: Bathtub emptied very, very slowly. Just inside the drain was slimey and gross. There were only a few non-slip strips in the tub and those few were close to the drain. Towels appeared to have been "dumped" in the bathroom rather than placed neatly. Pillows were so hard they could have been used as a weapon. Bedside alarm was set and turned to "on" - something I was not aware of until the alarm sounded.

Shower’s temperature was not acceptable.

Liked: Closeness to airport.
Disliked: We woke up 4am to catch up early flight and took shower but warm water never came and felt so cold.Beds were too soft.

Pleasant

Liked: Mel was absolutely wonderful, and honestly my favorite part of this hotel.
Disliked: There were many faults with our room, the bathtub didnt drain, the blinds wouldn’t lift, the lamp was broken, and another lamp shade was filthy.

It was a good stay.

Liked: Mel the bartender/cook/server/desk help was amazing! She was a literal “one woman show” on Saturday night during my stay because her cook and bartender both had recently quit leaving her to have to do it all! She handled the task with kindness and determination! She should be compensated for her service!
Disliked: On Saturday night all of the power in our room went out. I called the front desk to report the issue. They contacted maintenance. The power was restored within about 20 minutes. A Maintenance fellow came up to check on us after the power was restored to be sure all was well.

Back in the USA

Liked: Great location, clean and upscale decor.
Disliked: Staff looked over worked and check in process seemed out dated!

Close to Airport

Liked: I was only there 6 hours - needed to get close to airport for early AM flight. Bed, pillow and sheets were comfortable.
Disliked: Rm 208 - shower didn’t get hot despite running the water for about 5 minutes in an attempt to get a hot shower. Shower was tepid at best. Sink water was fine with temperature.

Liked: Nice front desk staff, comfortable clean bed. Being able to choose where my room is.
Disliked: The air freshener in the lobby smells really bad to me. Shouldn't have to pay for parking.
