Hilton Garden Inn is a very nice place to stay. Close to restaurants and the Petersen Center. The free shuttle service, so we didn't have to walk up that enormous hill, was so appreciated. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone attending an event at the Petersen Center.
Liked: The close proximity to our venue and the shuttle for taking us up the hill.
Disliked: Parking, so the valet was much appreciated and worth the additional cost.

Very good
Liked: I liked that it was clean and comfortable and close to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. My uncle that was traveling with me, was having some testing done at the hospital.
Disliked: I made two phone calls to the number provided on the website and I wasn’t able to get through to the front desk either time. So I grabbed this reservation Online with the understanding that the credit card was provided for just a 6 PM hold and that gave me the freedom to make a change if I needed to. The staff at the front desk was unable to give us a lower rate. (Eg The applicable rate for somebody who is a patient at UPMC Presby) Because she said that this reservation was already prepaid (?) through booking.com. So I felt that we were overcharged.

Price gouging, the bathroom didn’t...
Liked: Booked this location as it is close to the Petersen Event Center which was where our concert was at. Within walking distance. Bed was comfortable thankfully.
Disliked: Our bathroom had no towels upon our arrival and only two washcloths. We asked for towels and extra washcloths numerous times before we actually received them. The night staff was rude to my sister when asking for the third time.

Exceptional
Liked: The check-in process was quick and efficient. The front desk staff were polite and were always smiling. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. Valet attendants were quick each time I needed my car. The location of the hotel was within walking distance of universities as well.
Disliked: Only issue I encountered was connecting to wifi.

Good enough for 1 night.
Liked: Location was perfect for our event.
Disliked: We attempted to valet our Chevy Tahoe, when we pulled into the lot the employee said it was too big and directed us to the oversized lot. Did not take our bags or offer to park our car in the lot that was on the next block behind the hotel. At checkout I asked if we would be charged since we had to park and carry our bags the block to the hotel and they attempted to charge the same $30 valet fee as the guests who were able to actually utilize valet services. That is a ridiculous charge and hopefully other guests who have larger vehicles ask about the valet fee before checking out.

Bad experience with some of...
Liked: Location
Disliked: Staff- the middle age male receptionist of the night shift was not welcoming at all. Very disappointing first impression! On the first night, I didn’t have a duvet cover and when asked the receptionist to give me a flat sheet he said that the housekeeping was closed and he didn’t have access to anything. It was a nightmare to sleep without a duvet cover!! This experience wasted my first night! The room was old and decorated in a very old-fashioned and smelled damp, making it not inviting. The only reason I had to pick this hotel was its closeness to Pittsburgh University. The housekeeping lady on the last day of my trip at 9.30 knocked on the door and immediately opened the door with her keys while I was responding to her to wait!! Although the check-out time was at 12 she opened the door and said it was check-out time! I was so shocked and frustrated by her actions. This was the first time I saw staff open the door without waiting for the guest to be prepared. Very poor experience!! I am completely disappointed by the quality of the Hilton Garden Inn in Pittsburgh!
