Really Nice

Liked: Really nice staff, clean rooms located right in the heart of the centre.

Disappointed as I had stayed...

Liked: I had stayed here before on 2 previous occasions which is why I chose this hotel again.I was very disappointed as it was nothing like I had experienced before
Disliked: I felt claustrophobic as everything was enclosed. It would have been nice to know about the extensive work going on as it greatly affects the feel of the place and the overall experience. I booked a queen room but it was poky with no natural light as the window was small and blocked by another part of the building.The hotel is hard to find your way around and I got lost on a number of occasions. I struggled with my bags as there are a number of different stair cases.I had a knock on my door with a housekeeper saying I had requested more tea or coffee but I had not put in a request. It was all very confusing. I did not have a comfortable stay.The breakfast room was also claustrophobic and I only had breakfast on the first morning as the dining room was not comfortable

Liked: The location was exceptional
Disliked: Cannot open windows on property, air expeller fan in bathroom did not work, phone in room did not work. The hotel is undergoing refurbishment that I was not made aware of, and there is road works blocking the entrance to the hotel. This should have been specified at time of booking.

Great base for touring edinburgh

Liked: The room was spacious and clean. Staff helpful and friendly. We didn’t eat or dine in hotel so can’t comment on that. A good stay.

Liked: Very big bed and clean & quiet for a great sleep , great views hotel fulfilled my great view request
Disliked: Nothing

Disappointing

Liked: Good location however when we went there was a lot of scaffolding and work being done
Disliked: The bed was the most uncomfortable thing I have ever slept in. It was rock hard and so uncomfortable we had to ask if they could do anything and alls they offered was an extra duvet to make it comfier. This did nothing.
