Nice weekend and lovely staff...

Liked: Bed was very comfortable, Alys in the restaurant looked after us really well as did the lady on reception on Saturday night (?Elin). Was nice to be able to use the pool and the hotel is well located for Cardiff centre without being too noisy.
Disliked: I paid extra for a “king deluxe room with castle view”. This was advertised as being on a higher floor and a photo attached to the room description showed a wonderful view over the castle walls of Cardiff Castle. I also requested an extra bed for my child and this was confirmed a few weeks before arrival. On arrival, we were allocated a room on the 3rd of 7 floors and there was no extra bed. The view was of the exterior castle wall only, we were too low down to see over (see comparison photos attached). I called down to politely query this but was told the rooms were randomly allocated. Someone kindly came to make up the previously agreed extra bed while we went for dinner.The food in the restaurant was generally good but I was surprised to see oven chips being used rather than fresh potatoes, especially at £6 per portion.The waitress, Alys, was very friendly and attentive, thank you.Unfortunately the king deluxe room doesn’t come with bathrobes which makes it less easy to use the pool but Elin (I think this was her name) was very kind and organised for us to have bathrobes and hot chocolates on the Saturday evening. Thank you, Elin.Finally, why are there no towel rails in the bathroom? I’m more than happy to continue using the same towel but it’s impossible to dry it if there is no towel rail.
