Would go back but to...

Liked: It’s a lovely property in the historic James Bay neighborhood, just a short walk to Fisherman’s Wharf and a little longer walk to downtown. The bed and the sofa bed were super comfortable and the cottage is fairly well outfitted for self-catering. The fireplace in the living room was a nice touch. The patio is charming as well. We appreciated the free parking. Great wifi too!
Disliked: We stayed in Pennyroyal cottage, which had a bit of a strange kitchen design, with the stove in a niche separated from the rest of the kitchen, and poor ventilation. As a result, it was difficult to clear the cooking smells without opening all the windows and doors. Also, the owners live above this cottage and I was woken up at 6:30 a.m. every morning by their dogs racing around upstairs. I spoke to the owner about this. He said nothing can be done about it (I do understand that), and that the situation is disclosed in their listing. I looked before writing this review but don’t see it anywhere. I recommend this guest house but I would not stay in the Pennyroyal cottage again.

So convenient, comfortable and private....

Liked: The bed was so comfortable. I loved that my friend and I got our own rooms. The patio was lovely and private . The flowers and the grounds were beautiful. We were within walking distance to downtown but felt like out in the country. Having the cottage made downtime cozy. Friendly hosts thought of everything.
Disliked: I think there was no batteries in the remote for the fireplace. We couldn’t turn it on but also we didn’t ask about it to hosts.

We loved it and will...

Liked: The way the suite is layed out makes it feelLike a tiny home. We loved that it had a living room and a bedroom.
Disliked: It all felt very luxurious and quaint at the same time. The wallpaper took us back a few decades in a good way. Our only two criticisms were the horrible, single ply toilet paper and no dishcloths to wash dishes (we had to use a tea towel)…..for the dishes that is. lol. We will pack our own next time. They have all of these great unexpected conveniences like coffee cream and butter portions, a selection of tea and coffee. It makes no sense to cheap out on the toilet paper. So strange for a $300 a night property.

Comforting.

Liked: The way the space was divided made it feel spacious and homey. Comfortable stay. Owner was very personable and accommodating. The James Bay neighborhood has so much character and has a lived-in quality. It was a joy returning to our room after a day of adventuring.
Disliked: The accommodations are a bit dated, but not to the point that it was a detriment. We were able to conduct all of our modern business and comforts without disruption!
