Nice big building, staff ok,...

Liked: Nice big rooms.
Disliked: The whole place requires cleaning from top to bottom, the dust on the furniture in my room was about an inch thick, (don't whatever you do look under the bed) spider webs in the corner of the rooms, the carpets throughout require renewing as they smell very bad, and are filthy in places, big cracks in the plaster work on the walls, the curtains are filthy and don't pull together correctly, the floorings throughout require looking at, they creak and bend when you walk on them. No hot water, I tried the shower but it was cold, so I ran the bath tap for about 10 mins, and the water was still cold. The food is nothing special, I had the gammon egg and chips which looked like what you get in a greasy spoon, but it did the job.

Superb

Liked: Last stayed here approx ten years ago. Easy parking. Breakfast service very good.
Disliked: Nothing to dislike, though I couldn't quite get the curtains to seal out all the light from outside.

Lovely old school hotel, but...

Liked: Lovely bed and setting but the place needs repairs and dusting.. Huge bathroom. Staff were lovely and attentive but breakfast food once it arrive was good but was run by teenagers so no idea that was needed, constantly needed to ask for tea, juices, glasses, cereals.milk, butters.
Disliked: Cobwebs everywhere, main walkways need dusting, picture frames on stairs, woodwork throughout, heating was erratic, room walls have marks, lovely antique furniture has chips and very old fashioned 80's bathroom fittings. Breakfast food was good but clearing tables and refilling items didn't happen. Lots of staff walking about but not achieving anything. Queues to be seated and randomly allocated. Grounds and gardens could be beautiful but need gardeners.

Great value for money!

Liked: I've stayed here a couple of times now and whilst it is a little dated, the rooms are generally very comfortable and clean and the spa facilities are a great bonus. I think it's really good value for money.
Disliked: There could be some improvements to decor, but it's still a nice place to stay for a night or two!
