A very pleasant stay despite...

Liked: The hotel is very good and more then matches it's 4Star billing.The reception areas, bar and restaurant were all exceptional along with a superb Spa facility.Bedroom very well decorated and furnished (perhaps a picture on the wall?).The staff were very professional and friendly. Evening meal delicious.There were few gripes (listed below) but would not stop me returning when next in the area.
Disliked: The biggest gripe was the faff to go through to connect to the Wi-Fi in my room (essentially a 3rd party data capture exercise - which is ludicrous given all those details were given at check-in). This was exacerbated by the fact that the Wi-Fi signal did not work, at best, for more than 2 minutes without dropping. This was the case throughout my stay. The instructions in my room suggested an alternative network to connect to but this was not discoverable at all. This needs sorting for those bedrooms nearest the Spa.Bathroom smelt a bit of 'drains' and the shelf in the shower was missing.Phone in the room didn't work so could not call Reception (though this was explained at Check-In).Despite paying a room rate that 'included' breakfast, there was a £5 surcharge if you wanted the 'Full English' option - be aware if that is your preference.

Beautiful Hotel

Liked: Beautiful hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel decor was very nice and the bar and lounge areas were very comfortable with a nice selection of drink and food if you didn't want to use the restaurant.
Disliked: Strange limitations on what was included as part of your hot breakfast options.

Liked: The breakfast was nice
Disliked: For the price I paid, I along with my wife were disappointed by the room. I paid over £170 which I though was partly down to the time of the year but mostly expecting a better room. It was basic, just like going to a cheaper chain hotel. We paid separately for our meal as it was a work Christmas party, that was OK, could been bigger portions.The breakfast (continental) was included and was the best part of the stay. I'm not completely against staying there again but the price would need to be right.
