Great location but disappointing stay.

Liked: Location was great. Room configuration was very nice and comfortable. Breakfast was nice-/thank you.
Disliked: The shower had mold. One outlet in the bathroom did not work. Staff was clueless about the renovations and what was affected—told us wrong information several times. The elevator was out of service TWO days! Pool was freezing cold (I was told it would be heated). Little or no towels at pool. Men’s restroom by pool closed. Back door off parking lot and stairs was unlocked after dark-/HUGE safety concern. We found out from other guests on our last day we could have rented beach chairs for a nominal fee. That would have been nice to do. We only had housekeeping come in one day and the only thing done was trash.—sinks were dirty, etc. the heater/air was loose from the wall and rattled and very dusty around the gap. I called ahead of our stay with hurricane concerns and was told the renovations would have no negative impact on our 5 night stay. This Hampton does not live up to the Hilton quality brand. Other Hamptons have been far superior.

Liked: Breakfast was wonderful. The area was extremely walkable and had everything that was needed within a few blocks. Every single staff member that we came in contact with was wonderful!
Disliked: The only thing that was wrong with the property was that it was under construction, so some of the exits and the elevator didn’t work for several hours . I am sure the updates will be wonderful and they made up for it by not making us pay for parking!

Liked: Room was clean and very comfortable.
Disliked: The hotel is in a state of repair. The elevators were being replaced but the work had not started yet. Carpeting in some areas were replaced but covered with protective plastic. Just not as nice as I expected.

Brief

Liked: Great location for our annual fishing trip. We have traditionally stay at this property
Disliked: In a couple words - badly needs updating.With newer properties just down the street this property needs to update of lose market share to the ‘new kids on the block’

Liked: The view from the room was good.
Disliked: The elevator was broke and we were on the third floor. The stairwell right next to our room smelled awful from fresh paint, which was closed off when we checked in. A discount should have been offered. No doggie bags were available nor was there a designated area indicated for walking pets.
