Disliked: Construction occurring, but not much of an issue for us.

Great location, clean hotel, recently...
Liked: Great location to explore Portsmouth. We were attending a Sunday night show at the Music Hall, which is an easy 2 block walk away from the hotel. Lots of great drink and dinner spots within a 5 minute walk. (our personal recommendation is Green Elephant - a fantastic vegetarian asian-fusion restaurant in the same block. We go whenever we can).
Disliked: No complaints but I will note that we chose to park on the street overnight rather than use the valet parking service. I'm sure it's fine but no need to pay the cost when safe street parking is available. They have some extensive renovations going on but did a great job of minimizing this. Even though we arrived on a Sunday, they were still working on the 3rd floor while we had a room on the 5th. One of two elevators was dedicated to the work crews but otherwise I don't think we'd have noticed them. No noise and only a little evidence of the renovations (covers on carpets, cushions on walls, etc). Very well done minimizing impact to customers. My only other minimal beef with this hotel (and many others) is that there's no internal staircase to access the lobby. One leads down to an emergency exit in parking area, and the other leads down to an outside exit next to the main doors in the parking atrium. This isn't terribly inconvenient - we just walked down and then came in the external door. But I just don't understand the obsession with hotels forcing us to use elevators when stairs are better in many regards. Maybe as hotels get serious about sustainable practices, they'll consider this in design.
