Liked: They offered a variety of options for breakfast that was great for all ages. My kids enjoyed the pool area and was even excited that they offered pool toys to play with. The location was convenient for a quick trip to Walmart next door, or even a quick meal at Chili's in the same parking lot. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a family-friendly option. :)

I have stayed at 100's...

Liked: It was dog friendly and had a nice pool.
Disliked: Our room smelled like wet carpet sprayed with some sort of cover up perfume. Our bathroom had black mold on the inside of the bathroom door and over the top of the doorframe. There was not a bathroom fan and it likely had too much trapped humidity and obviously lacked routine thorough cleaning.

Exceptional

Liked: I called the hotel to let them know that I would be late (5:30 am) after driving all night. When I got there, they had me all checked in, and my room was ready. It was really close to where my daughter lives, which made it very convenient.
Disliked: The only thing I didn't like was the rudeness of other guests. Which the hotel has no control of.

Good hotel

Liked: Staff was friendly and breakfast was good.

No Christmas or seasonal decorations...

Liked: Comfortable bed, quiet and clean room with a bathtub, proximity to the boat rides "Christmas on the Pecos", American and continental breakfast choices. Hotel has a heated indoor pool that was used and enjoyed by several kids while we were there.
Disliked: Hotel had no Christmas decorations anywhere in the public areas or rooms. The famous boat rides for "Christmas on the Pecos" are a major annual attraction to Carlsbad between Thanksgiving and early January. Several hotels outside the Hampton Inn offer 15% discounts to attract customers and entice them to stay longer in Carlsbad. We were very disappointed that the Hampton Inn chose a relative sterile atmosphere with no seasonal decorations.There was no milk to drink for breakfast, just a bit for cereal. Hotel does not have enough chairs for breakfast.
