Overpriced and overrated

Liked: It has a good location and comfortable beds with curtains for privacy
Disliked: Where do I start. The room was hot and stinky, and it was no possible to fully open the window to change the air. The kitchen wasn’t that clean and the toilets neither. The water was constantly going from hot to cold, so you don’t enjoy your shower.Only free coffee was offered and the machine was out of order (usually in hostels you get free tea and milk as well). The lounge room set up makes hard to socialize with people. For the money I paid I expected much more.

The facilities inside the accommodation...

Liked: It was convenient to charge my devices very close to the bed.
Disliked: I stayed in a dormitory, but the gender imbalance made it uncomfortable.

Very enjoyable stay, will book...

Liked: Very central, right behind the art centre and not even 5min walk from the Botanic gardens. The common rooms are clean and spacious. Very helpful staff.

Great location but that's all...

Disliked: First of all: HAKA is not like HAKA The hostels vary in quality and atmosphere tremendously. Christchurch was unfortunately the lower end.- Beware of room 108 in a separate blockhouse in the backyard outside the building. Not only are facilities far away but the room is located right beside the only outside socializing area which they also make the smoking area. In fact the main ashtray is just beside your window. We had no privacy till 10.15 pm when we asked the people who had a long dinner there to leave . And we obviously could not vent our hot room without breathing tabac. Oh and it's so funny to give a room a water cooker when water is as far away as the kitchens in the main building haha- There is bad to none ventilation in the kitchens, people sweat while cooking.- Some cars were vandalized who parked just in front of the house without major harm. Obviously it's a party way home on weekends. The house itself offers NO parking facilities at all.
