Decent but wasn’t expecting the...

Liked: The location is nice. The room and lounge are nice decent as well.
Disliked: The door of a private room near our room (I assume is for staff) keep smashes when closing. Even in our room the noise is very loud. And we didn’t expect the 50 pound deposit and they told us the money will come back in the afternoon but it’s evening and by other review on booking.com I have no idea when will the money return to me,

Excellent stay

Liked: Beautifully decorated, comfortable bed and lots of facilities in the room. Great range of cocktails in the bar and a fresh cooked breakfast in the morning. We appreciated the complimentary room upgrade. Colchester is lucky to have such a luxurious hotel.

Liked: Our room was excellent with a beautiful, luxurious bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. I would give the room a score of 10/10.The location was perfect, with easy on-site parking.
Disliked: The cooked breakfast option was just that. Cooked breakfast with tea or coffee. There was no cereal and no slice of toast included. Bubble and squeak was included however it was unusual - dense and bland.The cooked breakfast did not included fried bread or toast so without the bubble and squeak it was all meat/egg apart from half a tomato and a mushroom.

One of the best hotels...

Liked: The room was spacious and decor beautiful. The bathroom was luxurious. Room service was prompt and delicious.
Disliked: My only criticism, and this is not unusual, is the quality of the bread for toast. It was literally tasteless. I really appreciate nice bread, and it makes such a difference to the toast and jam experience. A nice sourdough loaf has so much more taste than sliced industrial bread. At this price point, I would like the quality of the bread to match other ingredients.
