Located opposite Southern Cross Station in Melbourne CBD the Great Southern Hotel Melbourne features a 24-hour reception and offers nonsmoking rooms with air conditioning and private private bathrooms. This property features vintage interior décor and a modern courtyard area. Great Southern Hotel Melbourne is a 10-minute walk from Crown Casino and Etihad Stadium. Bourke Street Mall is a 15-minute walk away. Each room includes a TV refrigerator and tea/coffee making facilities. All rooms have a private private bathroom some with a bathtub. Ironing facilities and hairdryers are included in some rooms. 2023 UPGRADE NOTICE October 2023 through April 2024 GSH Melbourne will be replacing our 44 Spencer St Elevators (Elevator #1 and #2) entirely. Each elevator will be out of action for approx. 12 weeks each - this project will commence on 01.10.23 and be completed by 01.04.2024. Floors 1-5 will be accessible via Elevator 1 while level 6 will be accessible via 23 stairs from level 5. The management apologizes for the extended waiting times for elevator going up and down floors due to increased usage of the existing elevator during the upgrade works.* With this major project you should anticipate: • Varied noise levels between the hours of 7:00 am and 6.00 pm daily. Some noise levels may be loud or repetitive at times. • Work crews do not work on Sundays unless they experience weather delays. • There may be limited access to the buildings and courtyard at various times. Liked: I didn’t eat there but the restaurant/bar area was lovely.
Disliked: There could be USB points installed in the rooms.The shower taps need some attention. They were stiff and noisy.

Liked: quietness and receptionist, also the location.
Disliked: no facilities, no microwave, bed not comfy, cleaning not done next day. bathroom tab broken.

More than happy. Restraunt/bar downstairs...

Liked: Single bloke used to roughing it. Wanted a reasonable priced, close to a transport station from the airport, centre of town. Ticked those boxes
