Poor - 1.0 out of 5

Emma, Chester, visiting De Montfort Hall Leicester Sun, 5 July 2015

Liked: Was close to the venue we had to go to.
Disliked: The room was dirty. One socket no lamps and the sink was dirty and the taps didn't even work. Shower room was dirty and smelled. Toilet was not very clean and I found the staff very unhelpful. It was like they didn't want you there. All in all, I would never go back and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Lucky we only had to stay 1 night.

Liked: The property is very close to town centre and train station. Staff were welcoming
Disliked: The pictures are VERY different to the reality. Rooms are stark. No refreshments in the room, towels provided on request and shared bathroom downstairs (separate toilet and shower room) very basic. We paid for the weekend but had to find alternative accommodation at Novotel at other side of town as facilities were not acceptable since so we could not stay. We were not offered a refund or any chance to give feedback. We are used to basic accommodation but this is below par and more like a hostel.

Liked: Cheap, just needed a place to sleep after a night out
Disliked: Staff banging on my door at 10am to get me out

Good apart from one traumatic...

Liked: Very central, parking available, value for money.
Disliked: A colleague of mine met me at the hotel prior to meeting other colleagues for dinner. We had about twenty minutes to kill as we were early. We decided to go to my room but the woman at reception ran out into the hall as we mounted the stairs, crying “where you go? where you go?”. I tried to explain but she started screaming “no guests, he no go room, only you go room” in absolute panic. She could have politely said that she couldn’t allow me to bring anyone into my room due to hotel rules. However, she chose to humiliate me, completely unnecessary. Be warned, do NOT attempt to bring anyone into your room !!!
