Nice hotel but be careful...

Liked: The hotel was well appointed, the bar and restaurant / breakfast area were nicely decorated. It felt stately and grand. Plenty choice of food at breakfast. Room was spacious, beds comfy and had been set out well for the 4 of us, and the bathroom must have been refitted in the recent past. Our stay was relatively well priced, too.
Disliked: Leaky radiator, lights flickering and couldnt shut the window once opened. Phone signal very poor (obviously not the hotles fault), but there was no WiFi signal in our room, which caused issues, and therefore TV didnt work either. But the real problem was the event on in the ballroom. We did get an email saying there may be events on Sat and Sun or through the week. But no confirmation on check in so assume none - and the noise was very loud, clearly heard the microphone, cheering, music - and drunk patrons in rooms after, all of which woke both our young kids up numerous times. The walls are thin... I wouldn't stay here again in spite of the positives.

Highly recommended, lovely hotel.

Liked: Staff are excellent and go the extra mile (including a breakfast request which was not on the menu). Room was really clean and spacious with a double and one single to accommodate our party.
Disliked: A bit disappointed that you cannot get WiFi in the rooms but at least it is available in main lobby/restaurant etc so could make it work for us.

Liked: The bath/shower really should have a grab rail.

Liked: loved the hotel in its "oldness" of it was fab. The ladies toilet was wow.The food was excellent.
Disliked: The breakfast should have been warmer.

Liked: Breakfast was great, the breakfast staff were lovely and very friendly. Central location and easy to find. Views from the corridor windows were lovely.
Disliked: Room only had 2 sockets, which were not beside either of the beds. The room felt grubby and wasn’t the cleanest, with the bath panel broken and a strange smell in the bathroom. The beds were very uncomfortable and the room did not resemble any of the pictures on the website. The reception staff were unpleasant and unwelcoming, and the restaurant was overpriced for the quality of the food. There was a wedding on while we were staying, which took over the whole hotel and made it difficult to get through the reception area. The music was quite loud despite being on the 4th floor and went on late into the night.
