Not at all as expected
Liked: The host was very nice and friendly. There was a pool, a basketball court and an outdoor sitting area that were all well maintained
Disliked: It was not clear on the ad that I was booking to sleep in someones actual house, our room was adjoining the main lounge room. Our room had no window and had a loft above it that was not accessible from our room however, this is where the Air Con was. Obviously in all accommodation it is expected that the owner/manager has a key to your room etc. but you don't have to worry that someone is going to be in the open loft above you as you sleep, this poses a security risk. Due to the lack of ventilation the room had a significant moisture issue and mold on the carpet. The smell was overwhelming and clear that the host knew as he had candles burning in the room for our arrival. We both woke up with sore throats and watery eyes despite not having turned on the air conditioner (as there was no temperature control in our room). Additionally, there is no fridge to store anything inside your room so refrigerated medication needed to be stored in the communal fridge in the kitchen.

Overpriced and small.
Liked: Nice hostNice body washLooked like reasonable facilities.
Disliked: Bed was advertised as a large double but we found it very small. Room was tiny and the heater wasn’t working. No bedside lamps or hair dryer. Grateful for good weather as had to go outside to get to room. No toaster in kitchen. On main roadFor cost of the room just felt it was very over priced. Picture above IS NOT the bed.

Thank god it was only...
Liked: Overrated and very overpriced. The accommodation was a very small room (that barely fitted the bed) in a 1960's house located on a busy main road. The room had a very small bathroom with a tiny sink and no bench space. The TV in the room was tiny. The only light switch was near the door- there was no switch near the bed or bedside lights (not surprising as there was only one rickety bedside table!). The limited furniture including the bed was very cheap. There was no table in the room, no fridge and no tea making facilities (i.e.: no bench or kettle). There were two 'stacked' chairs (but there was no space to place them!) There was no WiFi. Traffic noise was high and continuous all night. The business is husband and wife operated (I would think retirees) and the husband was very rude. When we arrived 5.00pm he said we had told him 6.00pm arrival and the room wasn't ready (no 'welcome and hope you enjoy your stay'!). When we left, we placed the key in the inside lock of the bedroom door as specifically instructed by the wife. I then got three offensive phone calls from the husband accusing me of not leaving the key and threatening to charge us $50 for a replacement key. A fourth call from him was an apology for his previous accusations- his wife had removed the key from the door (shame he didn't ask her before making obnoxious calls!). To advertise this accommodation as 'boutique' is simply laughable and extremely misleading. Having earl grey teabags in the 'common kitchen' does not make the place 'boutique'. The accommodation was below 'basic'. Very disappointing. I travel alot and this would be one of the worst places that I have stayed.
