Convenient and cosy

Liked: Amazing location. Staff were wonderful. Delicious breakfast and clean, comfortable rooms.
Disliked: Could do with a bit of updating but not an issue as was very clean and comfortable.

Great hotel in the heart...

Liked: Great location in the heart of York centre close to the Minster. Warm welcome on arrival. Quiet room at the back of the property. Breakfast was excellent.

York was great, they forest...

Liked: The breakfast was quite goodThe location is right in the middle of old town so it might get noisy in the summer but during February was alright The bed as clean
Disliked: There were stains everywhere in the roomWhen they change the sheets and whatnots they leave them outside on the floor The bathroom carpet had hairsAnd if you want to take a shower and not wash your hair, forget it because the size of the shower doesn't allow you to escap the water thats coming from the very big shower head attached to the ceiling I understand the concept they are going for, the idea is there. But you got this place in 2018, most of the stuff should be fixed by now.

Exceptional

Fab location and characterful building

Liked: Great location right next to The Minster- you're right in the heart. Staff were lovely, very accommodating. Quirky. Building has great age and gravitas, which I love. Nice relaxed vibe, felt comfortable. Decent full English breakfast served in the restaurant, good service. Kettle in the room and plenty of coffee sachets/teas.Access code for front door if you return late which we did, simple and effective.
Disliked: The small double is pinched - bruises from banging into furniture. Storage only enough for iscone night and I would say max a couple of nights. One night priced at £135 and not sure that was great value other than for location, but then it's York on a Friday! Somebody else's sock found under the bed, not so great.Would have liked the offer of fruit juice with breakfast.No fridge, so the nightcap white wine we brought had to be unchilled.

Disliked: The room was very small and incredibly hot. The copper bath is fun, but you also need a proper shower as well. Carpets in the common areas could do with a really good cleanThe menu in the restaurant was very limited and the food I had was really bland
