Would consider staying again...but would...
Liked: Very clean large 'pool view' bedroom. Bottled water and milk in the fridge. Breakfast was excellent. Good choice of continental & cooked. If something ran out, a staff member would get it restocked. Hotel is in an excellent location high, overlooking the town of Fowey. It is predominantly an hotel for families (parents & grandparents) with toddlers/small children. They are very well catered for with loads of activity rooms for all ages of children. Also dog friendly. Spa facility was very good. Spa swimming pool has special times for adults, nice jacuzzi and steam room. Outdoor swimming pool was closed. Plenty of parking but if the spaces close to the entrance are full, there is an 'overflow' parking area on the left as you enter the gate from the road. Loads of nice coastal/country walks, from easy to strenuous. A few bakeries are open on Sundays in Fowey.
Disliked: The cost of drinks. For our evening meal in the restaurant we ordered two white wine spritzers and lemonade...the cost was £42. (£17 for the wine + £4 for the lemonade = £21). We ordered bread, a chicken caesar salad and a tuna nicoise salad and two puddings. A service charge of 12.5% was added to our bill, even though the service could have been better. I had to leave our table to request some side plates for our bread. So...the evening meal for two came to £128.81. To put in perspective...we walked down into Fowey on friday evenng and had a meal for three at Sam's. Excellent restaurant, really good service and host. Drinks, meal & coffee came to £95.45. On paying my bill on leaving I noticed a charity donation of £5 for 'Wave Project' had been added! This should have been voluntary. Using satnav to drive through Fowey is terrible. Car parks are located north of town and above next to the Fowey Hall hotel. Free from 1800-0900hrs. Avoid driving through Fowey if possible. Park and walk.

Very good
Liked: Beautiful building set in lovely grounds. Excellent views across the estuary. Spa was nice. Very welcoming staff.
Disliked: Has a lot of emphasis on families and young children. Didn’t quite expect so many children to be in the hotel. Went to breakfast at 07:30 in the morning and surrounded by kids in high chairs. Hotel needs to pick a camp as family stays and Spa don’t seem to go together. As a couple staying here, this is what seem to let it down.

An exceptional luxurious weekend for...
Liked: Beautiful hotel, exceptional. The property was luxurious and had a warm and welcoming feel. We are always a little worried about bringing our children away because sitting still and keeping quiet is no fun for little ones! But here they didn’t have to at all, the stay was designed from start to finish with children in mind and creating an atmosphere where children could be children and play, and explore the games rooms and library and feel comfortable in their own rooms, and not have to stand to attention at meal times, all whilst giving parents the feel of a true break and luxury experience. So delighted that we picked here for our weekend away for my husbands birthday. They were to helpful if helping me to arrange little surprises here and there for the birthday boy and my five year old will never forgive me that we had to leave!
Disliked: That we couldn’t stay for longer!

Superb
Liked: We really liked the feel of the hotel and the staff were wonderful. The old hall was great to relax in. The bedroom in the modern part was spacious and very comfortable.
Disliked: We thought the indoor pool area could benefit from a few more showers.
