Superb

Liked: He gave us a ride from Dursley town centre when we were really tired after we walked 20 km. So nice and sweet.

It was lovely. We chose...

Liked: We received an outstanding welcome from Charles and the property was stunning, in a gorgeous location. The house was spotlessly clean and the bedding and pillows were very comfortable indeed.
Disliked: I did like the room we stayed in, at the top of the house, which was clean and warm. It had no wardrobe (which was fine for our quick overnight stop) but might be more difficult for a longer stay if you had more clothing with you.

Great stay off the beaten...

Liked: Lovely property in a bucolic setting. Helpful and friendly hosts. Excellent if you have a dog(s), you'll fit right in. Great pub nearby for locals and newcomers alike serving tasty authentic Indian food. We came in chilly, damp February and it was still enjoyable, but in Spring/Summer it would really come into its own.
Disliked: Not much. Breakfast was good but could have been a little larger - all options of cooked, toast, cereal etc were available though. The owners have a successful local granola and muesli business - forthaygranola.co.uk (we weren't paid to plug this) - so we bought a packet and are looking forward to trying some at home.

An unpleasant stay overall and...

Liked: The beds and bedding were very comfortable
Disliked: Cold, wet January visit. House felt cold, radiator in room cold on arrival in evening (so no preparation of comfortable room temperature by host). Parking area in remote part of front garden to house meant either walking on slippery muddy grassy path ( carpeted bizarrely) with suitcase and dog pen ( no thanks! ) or walk back on short drive to lane then walk down lane to small gate access to house which meant lifting suitcase etc on to raised bank in front of gate. Notice in front porch asking guests to remove shoes before entering! Having dog with us meant allocated room up two steep winding sets of stairs with suitcase and dog pen to attic room. Carpet stains in room. Toilet seat not fixed properly to toilet bowl. Dog wanted to go out for wee in night and being in attic it made taking her out a long way down steep stairs then back up 2 flights of stairs. Breakfast adequate (only 1 slice toast each for example ). Breakfast room not warm.

Our hosts were gracious, generous...

Liked: Delicious breakfast especially Forthay's own delicious muesli. The property itself is very attractive and well tended. Especially lovely was an evening reading by the fire in the 'snug' after a long day out walking. Our hosts were gracious, generous and provided excellent suggestions about walks and dining out.

Superb

Liked: Cottage was quaint, clean & tastefully decorated to the period. Friendly host. Lovely breakfast.
Disliked: Finding the cottage initially difficult. Could do with more signage.

Very good

Liked: Lovely farmhouse, tastefully decorated and very comfortable. Room was spacious and well-planned out to accommodate us and the dog.Breakfast was lovely except we found it rather strange that the granola was already portioned out into the bowl. However, it was delicious and I'm sure the host would have provided a second helping if we had asked.
Disliked: The temperature hit 7C and there was no heating in the bathroom so rather cold to take showers.

Delightful countryside escape, with some...

Liked: Richard was very friendly and accommodating thorough out stay in the property. Freshly cooked breakfast and wonderful cozy fireplace to relax after dinner were the absolute highlights. Humphrey the cat and his cuddly attention also made their mark :)
Disliked: The bed wasn't very comfortable (sinked in the middle as it was too soft) and walls weren't very sound proof - you could hear next room's conversations very clearly. Our room specified private bathroom but it was outside the room. One of the days we ended up having to shower with cold water as the tank had run out of hot one. They confirmed they are upgrading the capacity to a bigger one.
