Exceptional

Ok for an overnight stay.

Liked: Stayed several times over the years, but it is in the middle of outside work and the scaffolding took something away from the ambiance.Parking was also a little difficult also as a result.The main disappointment if I am being really honest is that the staff were unfriendly, particularly at check in and it all seemed a bit hurried & stressful.We have family in Taunton so this was always our go to place. Sadly things change.

Perfect in every sense and...

Liked: Great place to stay in a beautiful quiet location. Room was excellent with superb bed and excellent shower. The breakfast was excellent and service faultless. We dined at the restaurant both nights and were delighted with the standard of all dishes.

Unbelievable.

Liked: Lovely village.Good location for journey on to Plymouth.Room and adjoining bathroom a good size with small table and two chairs.Bed comfortable.There were many things that I didn't like. I cannot say that it was the worst place I have stayed but certainly a strong contender.The day before leaving home and very busy closing the house an e-mail arrived telling me my booking was at risk since I hadn't paid and my details were incorrect. My booking with Booking com said to pay at the property but apparently the hotel still wanted my payment in advance. So this I did, although I did not appreciate the harassment.On arrival we waited and waited at the bar/reception to check in. A local man reassured us that someone would arrive shortly. A woman eventually arrived, took our names and requested card details for any expenses we may incur whilst resident . We were asked if we wanted to eat in that night and booked for 7.30 pm.The room was okay size wise but had some sign of mould and rust in the large shower cubicle. There were two bottles of personal cleaning products, for hand or full body wash, nothing else. There was no shower cap which was a blessing really, since you may have been discouraged from hair washing. This I cannot recommend since the water supply and pressure is seriously lacking. Frequently no water at the basin and a feeble flow from the shower. There were four towels to use. Two small hand towels and two larger ones. They had seen better days. Supposedly white, but actually grey.The residence claims there is WiFi in the room. It appeared as an option on my device but I never managed to get on.There was a kettle and cups in the room but no milk or water readily available. We were informed that this was available from a fridge along the hall . It was a large Smeg fridge holding one bottle of water with a rubber bung in it and half a bottle of milk. Neither were sealed and in a public place so we didn't use this facility.

Excellent hotel, beautiful location

Liked: The hotel was very clean and comfortable. The evening meal was delicious and the homemade ice cream was to die for. There was a very good breakfast choice and the food was of excellent quality. Will certainly be returning and would recommend 100%
Disliked: There was nothing negative to say about the property.

Liked: Absolutely gorgeous hotel, with everything you could want and more. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
