First class all the way. My first stay there was in 1970 ($45/night) - was excellent then and remains the same, if not better. The Tonga room is awesome.

Not as expected

Liked: Beautiful historic hotel with a gorgeous lobby.
Disliked: This was our fourth time staying at this particular Fairmont. But nothing was up to a five star hotel standard! Our room was dusty, the alarm was never said to the correct time. They were no slippers in the room. When we inquired about them, they said you should ask “they’re not automatically left in your room”!!! The reading light on my side of the bed was not working! Another light in the room was not working.Furthermore, when we brought it up to the front desk staff, we were told that since you booked your reservation through a third-party, there’s nothing we can do for you. Maybe next time when you come and stay, we can provide you with better service. Frankly, there would NOT be a next time! This is not what you expect from Fairmont!! in the morning when we wanted to leave our luggage. There was nobody to help, my husband ended up going outside and bringing the luggage carrier!!! so much for staying at a five star hotel!
