Close wisely

Liked: Convent location close to highway
Disliked: Messy, a lot of homeless in and out of property. Breakfast was just oatmeal, coffee and muffin

Exceptional

Liked: For a budget stay it was very clean and accommodating. The room was spotless and we were upgraded to a kitchenette free of charge. I forgot my ID there after checking out and they held it at the front desk for me. Really good service and a nice place overall.
Disliked: Breakfast muffins I’d probably skip on.

Disappointing.

Liked: Email to hotel staff:<< I am staying at your Glendale CA location from Sunday to Sunday. At 8:30 Friday morning I was using my laptop when I noticed a good-sized cockroach crawling on the counter. In a mad scramble I sought to kill the cockroach so I would have proof & could show it to the staff. Luckily, I was able to do this.Next, I called the front desk and asked if they were aware of their cockroach problem. The person hemmed and hawed and offered to send up Melvin, the maintenance man. “What good would that do?” I asked. I was not interested in being given a new room, which may or may not have an even worse cockroach problem. Melvin did come to my room and we agreed that the dead bug was indeed a roach. Melvin apologized and explained the cockroaches were attracted by interior water as the hotel was upgrading its sprinkler system. My point is where there is one cockroach, there are always many others. While on hold with the corporate office, I noticed their guarantee of a “clean, comfortable environment,” or words to that effect. I do not have much recent experience renting hotel rooms. Frankly, I’m used to paying $39.95 a night at Motel 6. I understand that times have very much changed. But that notwithstanding, I can’t see plunking down $1000 for a week’s stay just to be given a room with cockroaches.[cont.]
Disliked: Melvin offered to have the general manager contact me, so I wrote down my name and number and gave it to him. As I say that was at about 8:30 Friday morning. At 3:30 PM that day I was driving in my rental car and realized that almost the whole day had passed without word from the general manager. I tried to call the front desk but was re-routed to corporate in North Carolina. I explained my situation and they said they had lodged a formal inquiry — I don’t remember their wording — and that I will be hearing something in 48 hours. I am scheduled to leave Los Angeles and drive back to Arizona on Sunday. So, 48 hours from Friday afternoon is Sunday afternoon, and I don’t expect to hear anything from anyone on a Sunday, which brings us to Monday, long after I’ve checked out of the hotel. I should also say that late last night I had a conversation about all of this with the assistant manager, who was behind the front desk when I arrived back to the hotel. He explained that the general manager was in a meeting and could not contact me on Friday. This would have to have been an all-day meeting because, as I say, I gave my name and number to Melvin at 8:30 in the morning.I would very much like to handle this internally. I would very much like to receive complimentary days in the hotel so I can extend my trip to Los Angeles. I would very much like to not be forced to explain and describe my experience in vivid detail to Booking.com, TripAdvisor, Yelp, and all the other online outlets, but I’m more than prepared to do so. This is not a threat. This is what happens when a hotel offers one thing and provides something far inferior. >>
