Really, given the price, this place is a gem. It's spacious, clean, comfortable, and quiet (even right on the street!). I mean, it's certainly no Ritz, but for $120 (for 2 adults and 2 kids) you aren't going to find a better deal. Would absolutely stay there again. Very impressed!
Liked: Size; convenience; cleanliness; comfort.

Clean, spacious, great location
Liked: As other reviewers have mentioned, it was extremely clean. And well maintained for its age, everything worked, repaired, painted, bed was comfy, sheets crisp. Room was spacious with a separate fully functioning kitchenette.View from my room to English bay was super!!! Great location.
Disliked: The air freshener in halls was pretty overwhelming. Also weirdly, windows not double glazed so some street noise, but room was still nice and warm.

I would not recommend
Liked: the location was great
Disliked: it was so so run down, there was air fresheners in the lift duck taped to try and mask the awful smell. the window sills were cracked and black. Stains on the carpets in the main public areas by the lifts. the rooms were clean but so 1970s, the floors slant to one side. In the bedroom on a piece of furniture someone had used a knife to carve out an offensive word.I would not stay again

Top Value Hotel, clean and...
Liked: The hotel was very easily accessible in English Bay. The neighborhood was safe and easy to get to using public transit from the airport. The room I had was very spacious, with two large beds, a kitchenette, an excellent selection of TV channels, good WiFi too.The bathroom had a very good shower and lots of clean towels. The bedding itself was also clean, as was everything in the room, very pleased about that. The front desk staff were also very helpful in answering any questions that I had. Also, my one night stay coincided with the final night of Taylor Swift's Vancouver concert dates. Every other hotel in Vancouver had jacked their rates massively, but the English Bay Hotel kept theirs at the normal level, only 200CAD including tax. Thanks again!
Disliked: The only real drawback, though it didn't bother me, but it has been mentioned in other comments and reviews, is that the rooms are a bit dated and could use a little TLC/refurbishment. The carpets are a bit old and the walls could use a new paint job, but this didn't detract from the comfort of the room. Also, and I have to stress this, everything in the room was immaculately clean, just dated carpets and walls. I'd definitely stay again!
