Exceptional

Liked: Breakfast was phenomenal. The Daisy room was comfortable and quiet. Everything was luxurious like we were in our own home and did not feel like a hotel stay at all. The shower was wonderful.

Relaxing and well treated.

Liked: It was a locally-owned bed and breakfast. We were treated like first class guests from the moment they opened the door for us when we arrived to the ease of checkout. We didn't even need to ring the door bell. We were greeted by the owner and the cook. I would highly recommend The Elms of Cambdon if you want a very nice relaxing getaway.

Thoroughly enjoyable, comfortable stay.

Liked: Characterful. Easy walk to the centre of Camden, which was well worth visiting.Gary is both entertaining and helpful. Together with James (quieter but equally attentive) they made the perfect hosts.
Disliked: Quite steep stairs to first floor bedrooms-To be expected in an old property.

Charming B&B within Walking Distance...

Liked: Gary and James were the consummate hosts! They gave me a warm welcome when I arrived and provided me with great recommendations for restaurants and directions, carried my suitcase to my room, showed me how to use all the devices (air conditioner had its own remote control). THe home is a charming 1806 house and the appointments are cute and comfortable. The room was quaint and had it's own bath and Jacuzzi tub (lovely after a long day on the water and walking around town). The bed was comfortable. They provide snacks as well as a Keurig for coffee and tea all day in a small room off the living room. A small refrigerator was also made available for the guests to use. The two-course breakfasts they served were superb! Tables were setup in a small garden area with lovely linens and a menu showing the offerings for the day. Probably THE best breakfast I've ever had at a B&B! Gourmet! Breakfast was served from 8-9. I had an early morning ferry to catch, and they were kind enough to accommodate my schedule. I typically went down to the garden (peaceful) a bit early to begin my first cup of coffee, and they promptly brought out my breakfast so that I could make the ferry on time. The property was within walking distance of the village of Camden, approximately a 12-minute walk. If I ever find myself back in Camden, I will absolutely book The Elms of Camden.
Disliked: I'm a very light sleeper and the room I booked (The Daisy Room) faced the street, so it was a bit noisy for me in the mornings. The town itself is fairly quiet, but the street traffic could be loud. It took me several attempts to get the room temperature the way I wanted it - the air conditioner was on a remote. The first time I tried to use it, I actually turned it off (my fault) so the room was very hot when I got back. Once I figured it out, I was able to get the temp to my liking. The room had a slight musty smell when the room was warm, but that's probably to be expected for a property of it's age.

A wonderful "home base" for...

Liked: The breakfasts were outstanding: creative, local produce, beautifully presented. The location in village of Camden was perfect for the special weekend event I was attending. Even though the Elms is on the main artery thru the village - US Route 1 - its site features includes large trees, lots of shade, lovely garden that enhances the visit. Having my own key for access to house, whenever coming or going, especially convenient. Gary and James have given great attention to every detail of a guest's visit.
Disliked: Can't think of anything I didn't like.
