Amazing location and good value,...

Liked: Fantastic location 2-3 minutes walk from the famous La Rambla and in the heart of the Gothic Quarter. Lots of Cafes, Restaurants, Shops and attractions within a 1 to 10 minute walk. Very close to the Metro line for easy transport options across the city and the staff were friendly and helpful. There is a wonderful cafe on the ground floor (not owned by the hotel) which served wonderfully for breakfast each day. The room looks out onto the square and beautiful church and it was a fabulous base for our 3 day city break.
Disliked: This is not really a complaint this is only a 2* hotel and the location makes up for much of the inconveniences, but the room was very noisy, we were on the 1st floor of the hotel and I think all plumbing for that side of the hotel is routed though the pipes running through the rooms wall, so all day and night the sound of running water was very loud; the room was small, but clean and hte bathroom was cramped but functional. The double glazing worked well, because the square outside is very busy (there was a market on Friday - Sunday) so there is a lot of outside noise, but again this goes with the excellent central location. The room had a strong smell, probably from the aircon (like when water has stagnated in the pipes) but Barcelona itself has quite the aroama and you soon get used to it. I would probably not go back simply because of the noise, but it was fine for our needs for a 3 days city break and I do feel it was still good value for money even with the issues above. I just feel others would benefit from knowing ahead of time when booking what to expect.
