Want to love it but...
Liked: Staff was very attentive, free drinks were good , cool building, nice roof top staying in old San Juan.
Disliked: Noisiest hotel room l I have ever stayed in due to next door restaurant / bar until 12:30 am and general street noise Unless you get rooms 1 - 6 away from San Francisco, I would NOT stay here and certainly not at these prices. Maybe midweek could be better.

Quiet and calm
Liked: The location of this hotel is perfect, and the hotel itself was quiet, cool, and calm, and seemed well managed. We don't drink a lot of alcohol, but we enjoyed the free cold bottled waters, juice, and coffee! The staff were all very helpful and kind.
Disliked: This is suuuper minor, but it would be helpful to have a vanity or small shelf in the bathroom.

Disliked: The original room I was assigned felt pretty musty so I had to move, would recommend staying in a room with windows

Great location, wonderful staff. But...
Liked: The hotel staff are excellent - very friendly, knowledgable and helpful - not to be faulted. The open bar is a nice touch, but perhaps an offering to make up for the hotel's shortcomings (see below). The location is excellent and perfect to easily explore restaurants, bars and historical sites within just a short walk.
Disliked: For the cost (over $300/nt including taxes) it is very expensive for the minimalist facilities offered. The hotel, while "historic" and with charm, is really more of a hostel. While I was fully aware there was no elevator, the open bar (a nice touch) does not make up for the spartan nature of the room, the lack of furniture storage, or a safe, and the decaying bathroom (even though fitted with new toilet). Shower tile flower was dirty and shower curtain rail rusty and poorly adjusted. Plumbing was unstable and of low quality. The lobby is rustic and fun; but rooftop very run down in appearance with no bar at top (disappoint after the 4-floor hike to get there). There is no food facility in hotel at all - not even a basic breakfast. With a bit more care and investment hotel could be a gem and justify the price.

Good value, location and all
Liked: Great. staff were incredibly hospitable. Would stay here again.
Disliked: Our room was right above a restaurant hood, we would get sniffs of grease and burnt oil constantly and the room smelled like because the windows don’t seal all the way.
