Nice hotel in booming East...

Liked: We really liked the place itself; the location was right and the price we found via Booking.com was exceptionally good. The bar and restaurant comes from a pedigreed chef, and that was great. The room was on the bare side but we were there less than 24 hours, so it didn't matter. Comfy bed and pillows, nice shower and bathroom, good towels - always a plus.
Disliked: Why, why, why are flimsy plastic drinking cups all that's provided, along with paper coffee cups? They're cheap and ugly. You can get a real glasses and ceramic cups at the dollar store for a buck, so why not provide those? We did hear a fair amount of street noise from our 2nd floor room, but that's often the case in a big city. Our major complaint was that parking isn't included. This is not a downtown hotel, and the garage is in the basement, under the hotel, so it's not like the ownership is paying rent on a separate building. The desk clerk didn't tell us there would be a charge to use the garage; we only found out when we'd parked, scanned the QR code and the site asked for a validation #. When I called the desk to ask why, she then told me there's a charge (nearly $35 bucks for 24 hours!) and that this detail was in the information section of the booking form. I don't doubt her but it was possibly fine print that I overlooked. Knowing what we know, we would book again -- if we found such a great rate again -- and go with better preparation.

Liked: The hotel is in the middle of a vibrant East Austin scene.
Disliked: We stayed there on a Friday night, and it was quite noisy outside. But, there was lots of energy!
