Average, too bright at night,...

Liked: Location and pool
Disliked: Not enough parking for every guest, the location is great but you need to provide parking for all guests. The hotel is old and tired and in need of renovation. The banging/thudding/slamming at 2am was ridiculous and incredibly annoying. I wear earplugs and it still woke me up. My room key needed to be replaced twice - if you place it near your bank cards it won’t work anymore - please try another system - it’s really frustrating and unnecessary. Light from the hallway filtered in during the night, the room was too bright.

Bit expensive for the average...

Disliked: swimming pool is tiny, and the way down to it feels weird and small, like a maze, dont go if you’re claustrophobic

Liked: Only reason we are not giving it a 1 or 2 Star is because of the staff ONSITE were actually helpful when we've raised our complaints and trying to come up to a solution. Manager lady Abbie was very helpful and kind, and understanding, and the room we've got moved to was actually quite nice. The location itself, a 10-20 minutes walk away from beach, restaurants, cinema and main high streets was perfect.
Disliked: We booked a "compact" room so knew what to expect room size wise. HOWEVER. The bathroom was long over due for a deep clean, the armchairs had some very interesting stains, there was chocolate not cleaned from the desk drawers, the AC was making some very unhealthy noises and the only window we could open had a MOUNTAIN of bird s**t on the outside windowsill. Again we knew we were booking a "compact" room in a busy hotel on bank holiday but did expect the condition of the room itself to have been a lot better than it was. As a whole the hotel itself needs some TLC. Paint patch jobs all over the corridor walls and squeaky floorboards that can be heard from other rooms.What made our final decision to book this hotel were the photos of the swimming pool. Which turned out to be about the size of a garden paddling pool that could maybe comfortably fit 8 people. The small, dark and grimy tiled room was the complete opposite to the brightly blue lit photo on the listing that had originally won us over. Because of this we ended up choosing not to use the swimming pool at all. This for myself and my fiancé was enough.We went back to reception and asked what the process would be if we wished to cancel our booking and leave the hotel with an immediate affect. The duty manager (abby/abbie) was called, kindly listened to our complaints and wishes to leave, spoke to us about the impossible refund process (will go into more soon) before convincing us to stay when she found and moved us into another better quality room.The refund process - never have I heard of a process more unnecessarily confusing as this.No refunds were done onsite!No staff or management have the authorisation to issue refunds!!!We've been told we would have to email the Director of the hotel our complaints and wishes and he would manage the situation from there - no thanks !
