Great stay in gorgeous hotel...
Liked: Beautiful setting in Sandsend. Really comfortable in traditional setting. Lovely staff, and reasonably priced. We stay here often.

Weekend away on the east...
Liked: The area was lovely, the setting the hotel was perfect.
Disliked: A fixed price menu for evening meal with a lack of choice. The request I asked for through you did not filter through to the hotel, which dampened my wives birthday weekend. Was told by the hotel that if we had booked direct with them then we could have got a better price with evening meal in the price. A big down mark for yourselves booking . Com.TV reception in the room was bad.

Superb
Liked: The Country House was beautiful. The breakfast was great. Staff were great.
Disliked: Our room was very basic. There was a strong/bad smell in the shower. There was no/poor furniture on the terrace when the weather was excellent.

Good
Liked: Had to ask for room change, which they had no.priblem in doing so.hapoy with second room.Wasnt happy paying £70 for two main course as apparently 3 course set menu but we did ask if OK just to have mains and pay individually for those and waitress said yes if course. But still charged us £70 even after explained we had spoken to waiting staff .It's ridiculous that the menu isn't individually priced .

Wouldn't stay again. There is...
Liked: Checking out.
Disliked: Personally, I believe I was penalise for booking the room via a 3rd party website rather than directly. I wouldn't have found this place without the 3rd party site. Sometimes I will look at booking directly but on this occasion the price was the same with little benefit to faffing with all the details. It took 15 mins from arriving to checking in, awaiting at reception for someone to get the keys and details. The room was cold on arrival, having to switch on the small electric heater which considering its very cold, and the fact I’m checking in could have made the effort to switching it on prior to my arrival. The room was a large space to heat. The radiators in the shower room and WC room stone cold, ironically a sign above saying they may be hot, yeah not on my visit they weren’tI couldn’t close the curtains as these then covered the electric heater. The heater has been fitted in place of a standard radiator. Not fit for purpose really. Do I cover and risk a fire? There was also brick dust underneath the heater, why has the cleaners missed this? What else did they miss? Just lacking attention to detail. The mattress was way past its best. I think the sofa had better comfort. There was no bounce and just all springs. It really didn't do my back much good. No wonder people stay in premier inns'.Using the shower in the freezing cold shower room in the morning. The extract fans not working. The ice cold radiator and the shower door that was broken. Has this room been checked? The room was cold, tired and lacked finesse. No pictures on the wall and was left wanting more.Breakfast was fine, but just a little messy. Only 1 side of the toaster works, ironic really given the radiators upstairs. The carpark exit is very tight if you have a larger car. Be careful! especially at night as there’s not much lighting outside.

Good value for money, great...
Liked: Lovely period property in a beautiful location
Disliked: The bed was so uncomfortable with springs that stuck up. Neither of us slept very well. The dining room is such a contrast to the rest of the building, very bright and lacking in atmosphere which is such a shame.
