Great spot for a short...
Liked: Really great location, very welcoming friendly staff, small room overlooking the square. Shower room small but very clean.
Disliked: My only negative comment was that the beds moved easily in the vinyl floor so when you sat up in bed rest against the bed head, the bed moved forward.

Liked: As a solo traveller I stayed in small single room. I would say that this is excellent value for that money for spending 3 days there.Comfortable, 3 min walk from the Paddington Station which is easily connected to go anywhere.Breakfast was OK, room and tiny bathroom were clean.Having kettle, tea and instant coffee bags did help to get refreshment.Staff is friendly.

Worst hotel experience I've had
Liked: Nothing about this experience was positive
Disliked: So, the first thing I want to say is that this was a very cheap room so I didn't have huge expectations. I just needed a place to get a few hours rest and a shower before an evening flight.What wasn't clear until arrival is that Dolphin Lodge has two parts - a nice-looking hotel bit and a few doors down the road an extremely run-down building which is much much shabbier. This, it turns out, was where my room was. It was honestly one of the most depressing rooms I've ever seen - truly! But, even that I could've put up with for the price. But what they failed to mention was the building work that was going on. It's hard to describe the noise - it was industrial and deafening. I'm not overstating it. I thought they were going to come through the ceiling. I've never experienced anything like it. So, having checked in I went to reception to complain. The young woman there told me - 'Oh yes there's building work going on, it's quite loud, sorry'. She also said that there were no other rooms available so that was that. I pointed out they shouldn't have offered any rooms in the midst of such building work and asked for a refund.She told me to contact Booking.com but there were no guarantees they'd give me my money back.So I did contact booking.com, they contacted the hotel, who finally responded and said there was no building work so there would be no refund. WOW! I asked the booking.com guy on the phone what he suggested I do and he hung up. Brilliant.My advice - avoid this place like the plague

Never stayed in a basement...
Liked: Location is good.
Disliked: The room was in the basement.Noise and vibrations from the trains passing underground isn’t ideal for families trying to sleep.Narrow and steep staircase to basement make it difficult to take luggage up and down.
