Amazing hotel, great location, style,...

Liked: The style, comfort, look of the hotel and rooms, in a perfect location overlooking the fjord.

Very good

Liked: Love the old hotel in the middle of everything.
Disliked: We had a long way to get our luggage into our room. After the elevator we then still had many steps to drag our heavy luggage. Hard and dangerous!

Excellent location coupled with friendly...

Liked: The location is superb and the history of the building is excellent.
Disliked: Not much. It was off season so there was a little construction going on, but not in a bothersome way.

Exceptional

Liked: This is one of the best hotels I´ve ever stayed in. The location is perfect if you reach the city by speedboat or are in Bergen for only a few days. The rooms were full of charm and were very clean. Breakfast was just fantastic!

Loud but great customer service

Liked: Great staff. Excellent hotel manager and very accommodating. Very close to Bryggen and the downtown scenery… a bit too close for us perhaps given the excess noise into the night.
Disliked: We had a difficult stay here given our room faced the street and there was pounding music (not relieved by ear plugs) coming through the walls and window until 3-4am. There is unfortunately a night club right across the street. This was on top regular street noise from being close to the busy road with bus traffic etc. Given we couldn’t sleep through one night we tried to have our room moved but this was not possible and the manager refunded the remainder of the reservation so we could find another quieter place in town. The manager and customer service was excellent and this can’t be understated. While our stay was poor it is possible that rooms facing inward or in another part of the hotel are quieter and that those guests had different experiences. Maybe confirm the room orientation prior to booking?

Excellent historic hotel with lots...

Liked: Excellent breakfast. Perfect location in a historic building within steps of Bryggen. Wonderful and helpful staff. We would stay here again. Upper floor deluxe room was a delightful retreat.
Disliked: Only downside was that the Restaurant only offered their three course holiday menu and did not serve off the regular a la carte menu.
