Great location and staff which...

Liked: Great friendly and helpful staff. Great location not only to the beach but a few businesses nearby as well that are within walking distance. Great access to the beach and they even have a temperature controlled pool. I am a non-smoker so I am happy the hotel is a no smoking hotel.
Disliked: Perhaps the temperature settings on the temperature controlled pool could have been a few degrees warmer. But the pool was nice and clean and the staff will let you know the hours it is open and it has lights for the evening when the sun goes down.

Disliked: We purchased a 3 night stay at Desoto Beach Hotel through Booking.com as part of our vacation. The staff was wonderful, the room, not so much. Our TV wasn't working and it took a long time for a maintenance worker to show. We had to call again for them and after two different visits from hotel maintenance, before they fixed it. Upon unpacking and starting to unwind after a long day, found Bed Bugs!!! Under the sheets it was absolutely disgusting. They offered us to move to another room, but before we moved from the Bed Bugs room, to the second room I removed the sheets on both beds in the second room to check for Bugs, no bugs were found but both mattress covers were covered with dry blood stains. After speaking to the assistant manager with which we were not happy we asked to speak to the manager in which he didn’t come down and sent the assistant manager back. I requested and received a two day refund, but that doesn't make up for lost time and fun we were expecting on our vacation. I paided $456.06 for three nights ($152.02 per night), hotel refunded me $287.37 for two nights, for two nights it would be $304.04, so it looks like Booking.com still takes there cut of $16.67 for using there service even through the hotels are subpar.

Liked: Beach access was wonderful. Room was large. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Disliked: Pool is small. Charges for pool towels and beach chairs. Few food choices in walking distance.

My Tybee Island DeSoto visit

Liked: Everything was great. Fantastic access to the beach. Staff was friendly and helpful. Left my 3rd floor balcony open at night to sleep to the sounds of the ocean waves hitting the beach. Yes, close enough to hear it well! Will be back to visit again.
Disliked: Would have liked a little more variety for breakfast with less carby stuff. Mostly the choices were bread products, sweet bread products and more bread type things. Wanted something hot and filling, like eggs and bacon.
