Liked: This nearly 100-year-old boat is absolutely charming and ideally located for anyone interested in staying in Old Sac. Although it has been restored, the boat still retains the vintage charm of an old hotel. The staff were exceptionally friendly and professional—each took the time to explain the details of the property and the amenities included with our stay. In fact, we even received a helpful text message before arrival notifying us of a road closure due to a parade later that afternoon. The bed was very comfortable, featuring soft, high-quality sheets and pillows, and the TV was generously sized, coming equipped with DirectTV and a variety of channels.
Disliked: Considering that this is a restored vintage boat converted into a hotel, there are several areas where improvements could be made. The rooms I saw were incredibly small. My mother had one room, while my husband and I stayed in another. My mom’s room was small but cozy enough for one person. In her case, the compact size—especially in the bathroom—was actually beneficial, as the hotel does not offer designated handicapped rooms. Since she has mobility issues, the layout worked well for her. However, our room felt too cramped for two people to spend much time in. Since we were only staying one night, it was manageable. In our room specifically, there were some more concerning issues. The room seemed to be at a constant slant, as if the boat were leaning to one side. This was immediately noticeable when we first walked in and especially when I got into bed—it often felt like I could roll right off.The bathroom featured an adorable old-fashioned pull-chain toilet, but it was incredibly loud with each flush. The shower was also very small; for someone of a larger build, it might be difficult to do much more than a basic wash. I’d recommend taking care of any hair removal before your visit! The bathroom had brass fixtures and exposed pipes, which added to the vintage aesthetic. Unfortunately, they were in desperate need of cleaning, as oxidation had turned them green. On a positive note, the bathroom appeared freshly painted—so freshly painted that the paper covers on the provided water glasses were nearly stuck to the shelves. That alone was a minor issue, but finding old toothpaste residue at the bottom of one of the glasses was unacceptable. This made me question the cleanliness of the coffee cups as well, so we opted not to use them or the coffee pot. Additionally, one corner of the bathroom had spider webs with dead bugs, which clearly had not been cleaned.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay...
Liked: The dinner was outstanding in the restaurant. The young lady working at the bar upstairs was exceptionally courteous and attentive.
Disliked: We went to the bar upstairs on Saturday evening to round off the evening with a drink. We waited so long to be helped that we ended up leaving and going to bed. In fairness the lady was busy and seemed to be working on her own. Breakfast on the Saturday morning was a disappointment for my husband whose birthday it was, everything looked and tasted as though it had been overcooked and then reheated in a microwave. It was just all dried up.Our room was pleasant and spacious, but I did feel let down when entering the lobby. Upon arrival it seemed somewhat dismal and very unwelcoming, definitely in need of upgrading.

Listen to the seals sing,...
Liked: My check-in was easy enough; we got a small surprise with free drink vouchers for the bar. The room overlooked the riverside, and if you're like my wife and I, you may enjoy the seals and their random songs through the night. The place was undergoing some renovations in the bar area, so we did not get to experience that part of the boat. However, they did their best to accommodate the guests in the dining area. They had live music and the staff was very kind. Walking around the boat transported you back in time a bit. If you love history or are a nostaligist, I would highly recommend a stay here. The small creaks and groans added to the historical ambiance of the place, and it was definitely welcome from the hustle and bustle of daily life. I would 100% stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone who has an open mind and wants to experience Old Town Sacramento with ease and joy. My wife loved that they captured so much of the history and basically have a time capsule on the water. What else can I say? We adored every minute of our stay.
Disliked: It was a bit confusing to find at first due to parking. But if you valet through the hotel, that won't be a problem. Lesson learned, pay the $30, and make it easier on yourself. Other than that, it was perfect.
