Amazing house, friendly but for...

Liked: The original property is an exceptionally beautiful old listed building with high ceilings and amazing details. The grounds are expansive and boast an impressive entrance. All the staff encountered were well trained and polite.
Disliked: Due to an overzealous government planning regulation gone mad (listed status stops them making actual rooms in the original house). So only ONE room is available which lists at around £500 per night. After arriving late (post 9pm) in dark and rain and leaving early morning we didn't opt for it over our £150 "generic" room. The room we got was in the extension several foot kilometres away (joking but not really) down endless featureless corporate style corridors that remind you of "the shining.", it was pouring down with rain and trying to work out which corridor matched the closest room to get our luggage took the best part of 45 minutes, endlessly getting lost multiple times. Not even a splash of colour, just prison-like identical walls. What was the designer thinking?! Horrendous and nothing like the original house. The room was as expected, uninspired but at least of reasonable quality and comfort. Just boring, with no flashes of design, one of several million cookie cut rooms. Such a wasted opportunity to do a least a few nice rooms for guest that don't mind paying more for better than the corporate market this is clearly intended for. Disappointing really.

Liked: The interior design is impressive. The atmosphere of the bar is nice with friendly staffs. There is a swimming pool which is a bonus. Plenty of parking space. In general,it is a convenient location and a nice hotel.
Disliked: The only thing was that there was a long walk before getting to the room and the room was not too sound proof.
