For the room rate, expected just an average and clean room to stay in. Booked the Days Inn as most other reasonable rate hotels had been booked already for the RIAT. The room itself was ok, average and what you would expect for the price. The decor is a bit dated. The bathroom was standard bath with shower, sink and toilet. The sink had a crack in it and it was dubious if the toilet seat had been cleaned properly as it needed a bit of a wipe before use. It had been 'blued' so some attempt at cleaning had been made. The shower curtain didn't contain the water from the shower fully so there would be a pool of water on the floor after showers. We had booked for two adults and two children. The room was a family room but was only made up for 2/3 people. We had to ask reception for sheets for the pull out bed and we had to make this ourselves, which was ok as it was easy to do, but it would have been nice if they could have offered to do it. We had to go back to reception again to get 2 extra bath towels. The room had a slight 'doggy' smell to it (a little bit like a wet dog) which I noticed as I'm a bit sensitive to smell but my partner and children didn't notice it. The hotel allows pets. Disappointed that after our first night, the bathroom wasn't cleaned very well (if at all). The pool of water on the floor was still there and the bins had not been emptied. We had been given 3 bath towels instead of 4. The pull out bed had not been made. The double bed had been made but not very well. The sheets were barely covering the top corners and pulled away when I pulled the duvet down and had to be remade. The children enjoyed the TV in the room and there was standard tea and coffee. We had the breakfast for £5, but it isn't really worth it. It sounds nice - cereal, freshly baked croissant, fresh fruit, orange juice, fresh milk and yoghurt. But, the fresh fruit was a soft apple and the orange juice tasted like squash. The Membury services are a bit woeful too - KFC, BK, Eat-In and Waitrose. Eat somewhere else if you don't have two tired toddlers with you.
Liked: Good shower power.
Disliked: Bathroom not cleaned every day. Room not made up for number of people booked.

Does what it says on...
Liked: It was exactly what you expect, basic but clean and tidy. The staff were great, we had our dog with us and they put us in a ground floor room near the exit especially for easy access to grass for him.
Disliked: TV was a bit small for the size of room, we couldn't read the TV guide from the bed! Its also hard to find, hidden behind bothe the services and Starbucks unit with a small signpost. Worse as we were in the dark. Had to use Google Maps on satellite to find it, hence low marks for location. Please please put better signs up!

Short and sweet
Liked: The room and facilities were clean and comfortable and just perfect after a fairly stressful journey.
Disliked: I am sur it will all be fine once the building work is finished.

Value.
Liked: Nice comfy bed. Great shower. Quiet. Breakfast decent value for an extra tenner per person from the hotel (taken in the next door services).
Disliked: Bathroom fan in Rm 110 not working, hence the slightly musty smell to the room. TV too far from the bed.
