Would definitely return to this...

Liked: The staff we’re all fantastic and so friendly. My husband was poorly when we were there and they went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. The location is stunning and couldn’t fault the hotel.

Disappointing

Liked: Lovely location and nice bar. Some staff good (some not).
Disliked: It was disappointing for the price. Water damage as a result of poorly fitting shower screen over the bath (paint peeling from warped rotten skirting, mouldy grout between tiles on floor). For our first morning we booked breakfast for 7:30 (I was running in Dramathon). All I wanted was porridge. It eventually arrived at 8:05, after chasing, and was cold. I mentioned the water damage when checking out, and was just handed the bill.

Mostly fab with a tiny...

Liked: The atmosphere in the ground floor bar was welcoming and buzzy. Reception staff were outstanding, welcoming and happy to share local knowledge.
Disliked: The legendry whisky bar was not open for pre-dinner snifters on either of our two evenings. The manageress was willing to juggle staff to open it on our 2nd evening but dinner arrangements elsewhere meant we could not fit this in. Staffing remains a challenge obviously.

Superb

Liked: The location is in the heart of whiskey country. Room and bed were very comfortable.
Disliked: The bar and restaurant area could have been cozier. Didn’t invite people to mingle. Food was OK but not stellar for the price.
