I had the choice of boutique hotels in the SOHO area or a reputable chain like Marriott. After sifting through the boutique options and reading a bunch of negative reviews, I read the Marriotts reviews and they were all exceptional. I only had a one night stay, and just wanted reliable, clean, safe accomodation. I got that and more. The price was right. The staff was exceptional.

Liked: Service from the lobby staff was exceptional. The room was very clean and quiet and felt very safe.
Disliked: More food options would have been welcomed. (not that there aren't plenty of fast food or fine dining options all around the hotel). I was told there was a little restaurant in the back, and it was a stand where they sold coffee drinks and sandwiches except they were out of all the sandwiches. I grabbed a yogurt and a coffee and went to the airport. Once I checked through security I found plenty of food options there.

Location was great with subway stations right outside the door. The staff were very accommodating and helpful. Room was well lit and bed was comfortable. Bathroom shower was nice.

Wonderful greeting every time you pass reception going in or out. Very helpful and cheerful staff! Clean everywhere. We loved our stay and would stay again for certain.

We recommend Courtyard by Marriott in Soho because of its excellent location, courteous and helpful staff and top floor rooms with a great view. I noticed a lot of business travelers who seem to be regulars at the hotel, but I also noticed there were as many families like our family of four who were enjoying the staff and the city as well.

Liked: Our experience at this Courtyard was very positive. The location was perfect for restaurants in Soho and Tribeca. The subway stop was only a block away. The hotel staff was young, but especially friendly, attentive, extra helpful and went out of their way to make our visit pleasant. The rooms were quiet, clean and comfortable.
Disliked: The breakfast and coffee bar was understaffed for the first morning we tried breakfast in the hotel, but the young woman working the counter made up for it in effort!

Disliked: This hotel was an absolute nightmare. Before our trip, staff members (two women with brown hair) assured us on Monday evening and Tuesday morning around 7/8 am) that our reservation was confirmed for the weekend and that they could hold our bags. But when we arrived at Sunday midnight, exhausted and ready to check in, we were told that our reservation didn’t even exist. We were left completely stranded, with no room and no options, forcing us to scramble to find a last-minute room for $800—way above the $200 we’d originally booked for.The worst part? This whole mess happened because of misinformation from their own staff, who confidently told us everything was good to go. It’s unbelievable that they’d make such a careless error and leave us out in the cold like that. If you’re thinking about booking here, think twice. Clearly, a reservation confirmation means nothing to them.Shame on you.

Great place to stay in...

Liked: The purpose of my stay really was just to spend one night down in the financial center and this room really fit the bill. The room was relatively large, very clean and modern with comfortable bed and nice working bathroom. Thankfully, it also had an iron and ironing board for my wrinkled clothes! The location was great for me as it was just a few minutess to walk to the financial center, and just a nice place in general. The Wi-Fi was working fast.
Disliked: Unfortunately, being a Marriott, or for whatever reason, things are not very efficient. The check-in required a document verification procedure, which in my mind is reprehensible. They needed to take a $20 deposit, but only via physical credit card, which is already outdated. And just signing into the Wi-Fi, you have to jump through several hoops, as opposed to just connecting it immediately. Alas.

Liked: It was clean and it was fairly new.
Disliked: There was no furniture that you would expect in a bedroom. No dresser or a table. There were no shelves in a closet. It was hard to unpack. Definitely not worth $400/ night.There were no toiletries in the bathroom. Whatever was there belonged more in a two star property and not at Marriott. We felt like we were staying in a motel.
