Won't stay there again. Unmade...

Liked: The location was good for our purposes. Mattress comfortable, Easy to get to metro, easy to get to wedding venue. There really isn't more to say.
Disliked: We were so disappointed that after traveling all day from Connecticut that when we arrived at due time, we were assigned to a room that did not meet the request. It was a king bed, no sofa, tiny because it was next to elevator shaft, narrow closet AND when we arrived in the room it was still unmade from previous guest! I would like it if this were an anomaly but we have stayed at the Courtyard (years ago in Silver Spring) and the same thing happened. We were moved to a second room-just three floors up-still no sofa bed, next to elevator shaft, noise all night, and narrow closet. THEN when I went to dry may hair the next morning the hairdryer was broken-our plans were put off for about 45 minutes while we waited for another one. We then went downstairs and explained the situation-that I had made the reservations on AUGUST 14 for a king bed with a sofa bed. Instead we were provided a sub-par room, unmade bed, just gross. Then, even after we were told that we would be taken care of, I open the receipt to the full amount initially charged. It would have been nice to be comped one night. We eventually moved to a new room-returning to the hotel to do so before going to previous engagement-really, it would have been nice to just go to the event and not have to worry about retuning to hotel to move rooms. While staff was friendly and tried to be helpful with what we got, we should not have been put in this situation to begin with.There were signs that they were working with a skeleton crew so that employees could be with their families on Thanksgiving. Believe me, having worked in retail and hospitality, I understand the sentiment. However, you are in the hospitality business and it was the busiest travel weekend of the year. I would like to be comped for at least one night. That said, we will never stay in a Courtyard by Marriott again-two out of two strikes.
