convenient basic accomodation needing upgrading

Liked: pre-selected tasty breakfast 7.30 -9am with choice of large or small cooked breakfast or filled roll. Scampi and chips was good value and served nice and hot. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Pay on arrival. Public bar is busy with good range of beers and sports tv. Popular with local workmen. Generous supply of towels plus tea/coffee maker with working modern wall tv..There is a convenient taxi service next door. Easy access to Carnoustie town and golf courses..OK for 1/2 nights but dont expect Premier Inn standards.
Disliked: Hotel looks tired and needs a revamp-rather gloomy, lacking any finesse in rear bar/dining room . I had booked a single room for £120 for 2 nights but booking,.com offered me an upgrade to a double for an extra £18 for the 2 nights but room quality was disappointing -poorly furnished, and mattress was a bit lumpy. My bed was not made up on 2nd day and corridor lighting was on a timer,so one had to be quick with the key in the door lock before it went dark! .. Adjacent bathroom had been upgraded-smart new bath and hot walkin shower, but no grab rail, so watch slipping. Bedroom asnd bathroom were clean.All bedrooms are upstairs and this hotel is not suitable for the disabled.The free cark had a rough chipped surface-not an easy walk- and needs a good clean up of litter and other detritus-not a good impression on arrival..

A great place to stay

Liked: Friendly staff, good food and drink, great pool table, comfortable bed and excellent breakfast. Cannot fault any aspect of our stay. Would definitely stay again

Love visiting Carnoustie, and staying...

Liked: Excellent accommodation, with decent sized car park. My room was spacious, clean and very comfortable.The staff were very friendly as usual. Breakfast is extra, but tasted beautiful and well worth it. They weren't serving evening meals the night I was there, so can't comment, but they have been excellent on previous stays.
Disliked: Nothing to dislike

Disliked: The room, bed uncomfortable and squeaky,floorboards noisy,wardrobe moved whenever you moved,bedroom furniture damaged and marked

February Visit.

Liked: There is nothing to dislike. Comfortable and the foods good and well priced. Fantastic Breakfast that lasts all day.
Disliked: The Shower takes a little time to warm up but is nice a warm when it comes through.

Disliked: We had no electricity in any of the sockets so couldn’t do anything no hot water in both room we had booked so couldn’t have a shower in the morning.i wouldn’t stay here again the fire alarm went off twice so we don’t get a good night sleep

Liked: Nice spacious tidy room, nothing special but cosy
Disliked: Couldn't turn heater off so had to open window at night, bed comfy if you were in the middle but the edges of the mattress were a bit sunken
